EMPLOYEE MORALE

Morale is the synthesis of employee's diverse reactions to and feeling for his job, his working conditions, his superiors, his organisation, his fellow workers, his pay and so on.

Morale is a feeling which is somewhat related to esprit de corps, a feeling of enthusiasm or zeal. For a group of workers, morale, according to a popular usage of the word, refers to the overall tone, climate or atmosphere of work, perhaps vaguely sensed by the members.

If a worker seems to be enthusiastic and optimistic about a group of activities, if they have a sense of mission about their job, if they are friendly with each other then they are described as employees with good or high Morale. But if they are dissatisfied with their jobs, irritated, cranky, critical, restless and pessimist, they are described as having poor or low morale.

Group morale and Morale of an individual may b interrelated bur may not be identical. They have an effect on each other. It is conceivable that an individuals own personal perception of existing conditions as they relate to himself maybe high, and the groups perception of conditions maybe low, or vice versa, but more usually the two share common feelings.
